The Theme

From Hype to Architecture: Operationalizing Data-Centric Intelligence

At the 2024 Data-Centric Architecture Forum, a central theme was the integration of Generative AI and knowledge graphs. While early interest in LLMs like ChatGPT centered on ontology generation, DCAF focused on practical architectural integration—where and how these models fit into a robust, data-centric system.

The forum also addressed cybersecurity from two key angles: enabling secure, cross-organizational intelligence sharing and enhancing the resilience of the data-centric stack. Provenance and data lineage emerged as differentiators for graph-based systems, with sessions diving into graph-native methods for tracking data origins and usage—plus their implementation tradeoffs.

Other key topics included entity resolution, with a focus on architectural methods for identifying and reconciling duplicate entities; and scale, as participants shared how they’ve managed graphs with billions (or more) of triples while staying true to semantic principles. The event also featured live, production-grade demos of semantic applications, showcasing how real systems are being built today.
